Established in 1982, Zhedong Brewery Co., Ltd., the former of Ningbo Lion Brewery Co., Ltd., boasted a designed production capacity of 10 thousand tons of beer. The first phase project covered an area of 91,272 square meters with an investment of 15 million yuan. After it was put into operation in 1985, the production capacity reached 30 thousand tons in 1987. In 1996, the company established a joint venture with The Lion Group in Malaysian with a registered fund of 240 million yuan and a yearly production capacity of 200 thousand tons. At present, the company covers an area of 156 thousand square meters with a staff of 700. In the past ten years from 1989 to 1999, the company has witnessed an executive increase in production volume and taxes.
